Confederate Army officer. John L. Clements was born in Sevier County, Ark., ca. 1838. He enlisted in Company E of the 3rd Arkansas Infantry Regiment at Champagnoble, Ark. He rose in the ranks from private to captain. Wounded during the Battle of the Wilderness, Clements died at Staunton, Va., in May 1864. From the description of Captain James L.
